Middle School Students Accused Of Bringing Knife To School

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two middle school students will face charges after they brought a knife to school.

Police say two students at Yough Middle School in South Huntingdon Township brought a knife Thursday.

No students were threatened and the knife was never used.

However, State Police are investigating the incident and the students are expected to be charged by Westmoreland County juvenile authorities.

Police have not released many details, including how the knife was discovered.

This is the second local incident involving students bringing a knife to school since 16-year-old Franklin Regional High School student Alex Hribal allegedly went on a stabbing rampage Wednesday, injuring two dozen people.

One teen currently remains on life support.

Friday, police said an 11-year-old also brought two kitchen knives to Sunnyside Elementary in Stanton Heights.

A district spokesperson believes the girl brought them for protection after a dispute with friends on social media. The knives were never used though.

The girl faces criminal charges.
