Man shot and killed in early-morning Mercer County shooting, police say

A 45-year-old man was shot and killed outside a bar in Mercer County on Sunday, Pennsylvania State Police said. 

According to a state police public information release report, troopers were called to help with a homicide investigation at Yank's Place, a bar on Idaho Street in Farrell. 

Police said Brandon Smith was shot outside the bar around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday by a person who fled the scene. According to the coroner in Mercer County, the 45-year-old died at a local hospital. 

State police said a large crowd was present when the shooting happened, and investigators believe there are more witnesses. It was not immediately clear if there were any suspects.  

The shooting is being investigated by the City of Farrell Police Department and the state police. Anyone with information can call the Mercer County barracks at 724-748-0044.
