Man Found Fatally Shot In McKeesport

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) -- A man was found dead in McKeesport late Saturday morning.

Police say officers were sent to the 600 block of Versailles Avenue for a report of gunfire around 1:20 a.m., but when they searched the area, they didn't find anything.

Around 11:40 a.m., a passing pedestrian saw an unresponsive man in the 600 block of Spring Avenue and called police.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office has identified the victim as 21-year-old Mahlik Terin, of McKeesport.

Police say the part of Spring Avenue where the man was found has been blocked to vehicular traffic for about seven years, but it is still used as a walkway between Cornell Street and Jenny Lind Street.

Based on a preliminary examination, police believe the victim was shot in the head at close range.
