McKeesport School Evacuated After Crews Strike Gas Line

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) – An elementary school in McKeesport was evacuated after construction crews struck a nearby gas line Tuesday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, crews hit the line near the intersection of Eden Park and O'Neil Boulevards shortly after noon.

As a result, the Founders Hill Middle School was evacuated. The seventh and eighth graders were evacuated to the high school gym nearby.

Parents are highly sensitive to the construction after 14-year-old girl died after being hit by a dump truck near the school last month.

Police said the light at Eden Park Boulevard may have turned green as she was walking across the street.
