3 dead, 1 injured in 2 separate McKeesport shootings

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (KDKA) — Two unrelated shootings left three men dead and one other injured in McKeesport on Wednesday, Allegheny County police said.

While the shootings happened less than an hour of one another and were close by, police said they're not connected.

Allegheny County police said first responders found a 47-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head on Versailles Avenue after 911 got a call about a shooting shortly after noon.

The man, later identified as 47-year-old Robert Joyner, was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. There's been no word on any suspects.

Around 1 p.m., police said another call came in for a shooting near the 50 building of Crawford Village, less than a mile away. First responders found three men shot.

Jerred Duncan, 22, was pronounced dead at that scene and Jordan Eubanks, 30, was shot in the chest and died at the hospital. An 18-year-old who was shot in the leg was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Investigators said a fight between Duncan and Eubanks led to gunfire. Police said Eubanks, the teenager and the teenager's father fired shots.

Allegheny County police said they're working with the district attorney's office to determine potential charges.

On Facebook, the McKeesport Area School District said the McKeesport Area Senior High School, Founder's Hall Middle School and Twin Rivers Elementary went into an "exterior lockdown" because of nearby police activity.

The district said it was notified of two separate incidents involving police and said there are no active shooters. Dismissal for the high school and Founder's Hall Middle School will begin at 2:30 p.m., and transportation routes may be delayed because of the heavy police presence, the district said.

"I was just turning off the one street and heard about 15 gunshots half an hour prior to the other gunshots. I stopped my car right where I was at because I didn't wanna go in the line of fire," said witness Jeff Anderson.

On Wednesday night, McKeesport Michael Cherepko addressed the violence during a council meeting.

"The violence today is not organized," he said. "It's unpredictable. Senseless acts of violence."

Cherepko also asked for support as the police station is still reeling after one officer was killed and another was injured in a shooting last month.

"Continued prayers for those officers, continued prayers for the families that have lost a loved one in these senseless acts of violence," he said. "Please continue to pray for our city."

There's been no word on any suspects in either shooting, but police said there's no known threat to the public. The final victim has not been identified.

"Every single day, someone's being shot, shots being fired. We're living in a war zone here. When is this going to change?" Anderson said.

Anyone with information about either is asked to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
