McKees Rocks Man Accused Of Kidnapping Couple, Demanding Money

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A McKees Rocks man faces charges after police say he took a couple their 70s hostage and demanded money.

William Gramz, Jr., 27, pleaded guilty today and robbery, kidnapping, and related charges stemming from the abduction and robbery of the couple last November.

Police say David and Nancy Reidel, both 74 years old, were outside of St. Justin High Rise Boggs on Avenue apartment in Mt. Washington, when Gramz asked them if they needed help

He said he was visiting a relative at the apartment house, and then asked the couple for a ride back to his home in McKees Rocks.

Once in their car, however, police said Gramz was anything but a good samaritan.

Instead, he pulled a knife and forced them to take money out of an ATM in McKees Rocks.

He warned them not to do anything stupid. After the robbery, he ran off, and was seen throwing a knife under a dumpster not far from the ATM.

Gramz was identified on surveillance video from the apartment building. He'll be sentenced in July.
