Report: Steelers OC Matt Canada expected to return for 2023-24 season

Steelers fans excited about young core as they look toward 2023

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - According to a new report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac, offensive coordinator Matt Canada is expected to return for the 2023-24 season.

No announcements were made by head coach Mike Tomlin after the 2022-23 season ended, during a time where personnel moves are normally made by NFL teams immediately after the regular season ends.

Canada's current contract runs through the 2023-24 season.

Canada joined the team in 2020 as the quarterbacks coach for the team, while rising to offensive coordinator in 2021 when Randy Fichtner was let go by the team following the 2020-21 season.

With a new quarterback under center in Kenny Pickett, Canada's offense ranked 14th in rushing touchdowns (16), 32nd in passing touchdowns (12) and 31st in total touchdowns (28).

Pickett finished his rookie campaign with seven touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games.
