Massive Tractor Trailer Fire Erupts On Turnpike In Oakmont

OAKMONT (KDKA) -- Emergency crews were called to a massive tractor trailer fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Oakmont Wednesday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, it was first reported around 5:10 p.m. in the Turnpike's eastbound lanes near the Oakmont-Plum service plaza.

The tractor trailer had been hauling several other cars, which were also destroyed in the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries.

But thick black smoke could be seen rising in the distance.

Traffic was not moving in the area, and it appears crews had to shut down the highway while they put out the flames.
