Marte Placed On Concussion Disabled List

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- When Starling Marte was out of the Pirates' lineup Tuesday night, it was called a manager's decision, but it seems there was more to it.

Five days after getting hit in the head by a pitch, it appears the unpredictable nature of head injuries is causing issues for Marte.

The Pirates Wednesday placed him on their seven-day concussion disabled list.

It's not clear what Marte's been feeling, but the Pirates put their left fielder through another round of concussion tests before making the move.

Friday's beaning was the second time in a few weeks Marte left a game with a head injury. He sat out Saturday, pinch hit Sunday, and started Monday before apparently having a setback.

Brett Morel was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Marte's place on the Pirates' roster.
