MARS, Pa. (KDKA) -- An arrest has been made in connection to threats in the Mars Area School District.

The arrest of a 16-year-old girl, a sophomore at the high school, was the talk among some members of the Mars football team Friday evening as they gathered outside the high school before heading to their game.

"I don't know why she did it," said Mars High School senior Tom Sheehy of the girl who was arrested. "I don't know who she is. I've heard of her. I've seen her in the halls sometimes, but I think it was a good thing she was found."

There was no school at Mars Area School District Friday after police say there were bomb threat rumors spotted on social media on Thursday.

"You never want to take a chance with something like that," said Mars High School junior Josh Grell.

Multiple police cars were outside of the high school Thursday night. The district said police completed a thorough sweep of all the district's buildings and determined they were safe.

This wasn't the first threat made this week. On Tuesday, police said a piece of paper with the phrase "Bomb 541" was found on a hallway floor at the high school.

On Wednesday, authorities say a bomb threat was found on a stall wall in the girl's bathroom, also at the high school.

Students reported both of these threats and police were notified. The superintendent said the district will not tolerate any threats to the safety and security of its students, faculty and staff.

The superintendent went on to say, in part, "The actor in this case will face disciplinary action in accordance with district policy, as well as criminal prosecution and restitution for any costs incurred by local first responders and the district as a result of these threats."

KDKA's Amy Wadas: "Does this make you nervous going back to school next week?"

Sheehy: "It does make me a little nervous because of how serious it seems to be, and we just don't want anything bad to happen."

The district encourages parents to talk to their kids about the consequences their child could face if a threat is made.

Adams Township Police said the student is being charged as a minor and was taken away by juvenile services. Police said this may not be the only arrest. Police said other students may be involved too.

District officials haven't determined whether or not students will return back to class on Monday.
