Many Mourn Central Valley Student Killed In Crash At Memorial

CENTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- So many people turned out for a memorial service for a Central Valley High School student that many had to stand outside.

The pews were filled at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Center Township Tuesday night.

Father Martin Bartel presided over the candlelight vigil service.

He tried to comfort the crowd of mourners who came to pay tribute to senior John Barbuto, known to his friends and family as Johnny.

Barbuto died in a motorcycle crash Monday evening.

"Our God says, 'Welcome, Johnny. Welcome Home,'" Bartel said.

Fellow students told KDKA's Kym Gable unity at Central Valley High School is more important now than ever.

"Things like this happen, we just come together. We're just one big family," said Nikki Macio.

Julia Aloisi added, "Very sad that a tragedy happened. It's very hard for all of us, but we're all trying to pull together as a school and as a family."

The funeral is planned for Saturday after a mass at St. Frances Cabrini.

Barbuto belonged to that parish.
