Many Changes Coming To South Hills Business Corridor

UPPER ST. CLAIR (KDKA) -- Fort Couch Road and 19 are the heart of the business corridor of the South Hills of Pittsburgh, and it's about to beat even louder.

"It sounds like around Thanksgiving of this year is when Whole Foods would open," said USC Director of Planning and Development Adam Benigni.

But Benigni says that's only the beginning.

Not only is the "Siena at St. Clair" project going to include more retail space and restaurants beyond Eat 'n Park's The Porch, there's also development just across the street in the South Hills Village parking lot.

"We have a BJ's Brewhouse and Pub, it's currently under construction," said Benigni. "We just issued the building permit last week."

Meanwhile, the Dick's Sporting Goods will also be undergoing a remodel, even though they haven't been open that long.

"I believe we issued the construction permit last week as well," said Benigni.

Not far from Upper St. Clair High School on McLaughlin Run Road is the planned future home of Tuscany Point.

"It's 156 apartment units," said Benigni. "There's a clubhouse, a couple of pools, a fitness room."

Just a bit to the south on McMurray Road between the Sunoco and King's is more new development.

"We have a new Dunkin' Donuts, and there are a couple of other commercial entities that are attached to that that is currently under construction," Benigni said.

Also, officials say the Campbell Place building back on Fort Couch Road and 19 will be demolished.

"That building is going to be demolished around the end of April and construction of a new CVS Pharmacy is going to start thereafter," Benigni said.

No word on what will go across the street when CVS vacates its current home.
