Man, Woman Stabbed By Son In Knoxville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police say a man and a woman were stabbed by their adult son in Knoxville.

It happened around 5 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Matthew Avenue.

Police say the attacker, identified as 51-year-old Mark Kissel, stabbed his mother multiple times, stabbed his father once and cut himself on the neck.

"He was staggering up the street, he had blood all over him. He had, it looked like a couple cuts and that. He said his son was a dope addict. He said his son attacked him and stabbed him," said neighbor Joe Klein.

Both victims came outside for help, prompting people passing by to call 911.

"They were afraid to go back in the house, 'cause the son was in there with a knife," Klein said.

Both victims, a 73-year-old woman and 64-year-old man, were taken to UPMC Mercy in stable condition.

Kissel was taken to UPMC Presbyterian and will be arrested. He is expected to be charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
