Man Who Overdoses, Crashes Into McDonald's With Child In Car Pleads Guilty To Felony Child Neglect

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A man accused of overdosing on hydrocodone and crashing into a West Virginia McDonalds with his young son in the car has pleaded guilty to felony child neglect.

The Dominion Post reports 36-year-old Matthew Dulin accepted an 18-month pretrial diversion Tuesday, which allows offenders to complete certain requirements prior to a court date instead of following the traditional court process.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Keshia Tenorio says Dulin must determine if he needs to continue taking the prescription pain pills with his probation officer, stay employed, refrain from breaking the law and complete 150 hours of community service. Then, if successful, he can plea to the misdemeanor version of child neglect.

Dulin lives in Pennsylvania and will either be supervised by them or the Monongalia County's probation office.
