Police: Man Steals Liquor, American Flag Casket Blanket From Funeral Home

CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP/KDKA) - Police in Pennsylvania say a 54-year-old man broke into a funeral home to steal 10 bottles of liquor and an American flag blanket for a casket.

Canonsburg police say surveillance video caught David Wayne Maga entering through a delivery door at a local funeral home the night of March 8.

Police recognized the burglar as Maga who was wearing the same clothing from other video surveillance footage of him trying break into police officers home earlier.

The owner says Maga loaded cleaning supplies and tools in a vehicle but didn't drive it away. Instead, He stole bottles of liquor and an American flag from a coffin.

Police found those items after they got a warrant to search Maga's apartment.

On the same night as the burglary, a Cannonsburg police officer caught Maga on his front porch claiming he was looking for his wallet.

The officer told Maga to leave his property immediately, but the next day when he looked at surveillance video, he discovered that Maga tired to break in through the front door and side door, turning the doorknob and pushing his weight into the door.

David Maga faces a long list of charges. Maga is currently locked up in the Washington County jail on $75,000 bond.
