Arrest made in fatal Hill District shooting

35-year-old man killed in Hill District shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting in Pittsburgh's Hill District.

Pittsburgh police say that officers were called to the area of Bedford Avenue and Watt Lane for multiple ShotSpotter alerts around 12:30 a.m. on May 3.

A man was shot and killed in Pittsburgh's Hill District early Friday morning. Police say that officers found a man shot in the head and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  KDKA Photojournalist Brian Smithmyer

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in the street who had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as 35-year-old Anthony Young. 

Police said on Wednesday that they arrested 27-year-old Jewel Woods in Young's death. Woods was arrested on a warrant at the Munhall magistrate's office, where he appeared for proceedings on an unrelated matter, police said. 

He's charged with criminal homicide and persons not to possess. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
