Man Shot, Killed In Homewood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man has died after being shot in Homewood on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency officials say he was shot in the back at Frankstown Avenue and North Homewood Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There's no word yet on his identity, but officials say he was in his late-20s.

According to police, the victim was leaving a store in the 7200-block of Frankstown Avenue when someone opened fire.

The suspect, who is described as being an African American male standing at about 6-foot-1-inches tall with a dark complexion, thin build and shoulder-length dreadlocks, was last seen running towards Sterrett Street.

This is the third shooting in Homewood in less than 24 hours.

Overnight, a man was shot multiple times on Upland Street.

He was in front of a house when police found him just after midnight. At last check, he was in critical condition.

The other shooting happened around 2 a.m. along Brushton Avenue.
