31-year-old man shot, killed in Homestead

2 charged after leading police on chase in West Mifflin

HOMESTEAD, Pa. (KDKA) — A man was killed Friday in a shooting in Homestead.

Man shot, killed in Homestead

Just before 8:30 a.m., gunfire rang out in an alley between East 18th and 19th streets and McClure Street. Once police arrived, they found a 31-year-old man shot and unresponsive.

"We know they walked up into the alley, shot the victim while he was seated in his vehicle," Allegheny County Police Lt. Venerando Costa. "Then they fled back across McClure Street through the alley."

"Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop," said Brad Nicholson, who heard the shooting. "That's what it sounded like. It sounded like loud, big firecrackers."

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Isaac Love.

As police were processing the shooting scene in Homestead, several officers were called to another incident in West Mifflin.

"I came out to work on my patio, and I thought I heard fireworks," said Ron Pasinski.

Court records describe a surveillance video that showed two men who appeared to be "concealing firearms running to and entering a small white car immediately after the shooting."

Officers recognized one of them as 26-year-old Derrick Craig, who has had "numerous interactions" with police, the majority involving "illegal firearms," according to police.

About 30 minutes later, officers found Craig and 20-year-old Parris Bailey coming out of a home on Main Street in Munhall and getting into a vehicle together. Investigators say the men led them on a car chase through several streets in West Mifflin, where at one point Craig "rammed his vehicle" into a police car, officials said.

Eventually, Craig slowed down and got out, and led officers on a short foot chase before they took him into custody. Bailey also ran away but was also arrested.

In the complaint, investigators say they recovered a cell phone and a handgun illegally equipped with a "switch," enabling it to function fully automatically.

They arrested Craig for aggravated assault and fleeing a police officer, among other charges. Bailey is facing multiple weapons charges, among others.

Both remain in the Allegheny County Jail.

Police are not saying if the two men are connected to the shooting in Homestead.
