Armstrong County Crash Leaves 1 Man Dead

BURRELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- A 46-year-old man was killed when his SUV rolled over several times in Armstrong County.

According to police, the crash happened just after midnight Thursday along Cochran's Mills Road in Burrell Township.

Police say Robert P. Sweet, Jr. lost control of his SUV, struck a tree stump and rolled his vehicle twice. The SUV came to a stop 150 feet away from where he went off the road.

Sweet was ejected from his SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers says Sweet was not wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

An autopsy will not be performed. State Police in Kittanning are handling the investigation.
