Man Hit, Killed By Train On North Side

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man was killed after being struck by a train on the city's North Side Wednesday night.

It happened just before 9 p.m. at the rear of the 300-block of Cedar Avenue, near the Giant Eagle.

Police and emergency crews were called to the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.

According to police, the middle-aged man walked onto the tracks as the train was headed northbound. The engineer hit the brakes, but couldn't stop in time.

The man's name has not yet been released.
