Man Hit By Port Authority Bus Was University Of Pittsburgh Student

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A man hit by a Port Authority of Allegheny County transit bus turned out to be a University of Pittsburgh student.

A university spokesman identified the man only as Michael Anderson. Anderson was in good condition after he was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph says the accident occurred about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday in the area of the University of Pittsburgh campus.

The name of the driver isn't being released. But Brandolph says the driver will be off-duty during an internal investigation and was subjected to a drug and alcohol test, which is routine for drivers involved in accidents.

The accident happened on a section of Fifth Avenue that has several lanes of one-way traffic for cars, and a single lane reserved for buses headed in the opposite direction.
