EAST HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A Scottdale man was hit and killed by a car in the parking lot of a Westmoreland County shopping plaza on Monday.

According to police, the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Country Side Plaza on State Route 819 in East Huntingdon Township.

Police say 83-year-old Dolores Heard was driving her Subaru Forester on State Route 819 when she had a medical emergency. Heard lost control of the vehicle, drove off the road and over the curb into the Country Side Plaza parking lot.

Heard's vehicle struck a parked Toyota 4 Runner in front of the Sherwin Williams paint store. Joseph Soforic, 52, was standing next to the SUV when it was hit.

After hitting Soforic, Heard's vehicle spun and hit another parked car.

Soforic was pronounced dead at Forbes Hospital.

Heard and her passenger, 85-year-old William Bair, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

There is no word if charges will be filed in the case.
