Construction Worker Falls 30 Feet From Structure In Indiana Twp.

FOX CHAPEL (KDKA) -- A relative of the construction worker who fell 30 feet over a hillside says the man is an experienced tradesman who works for the Trumbull Corporation.

The man did not want to identify himself or the victim.

The Turnpike Commission says the worker fell while on the job at about 4 p.m. Monday. It happened in the construction zone on the westbound side of the Turnpike near Indianola.

Fellow workers used a pickup truck to bring the man to safety.

He was flown, by medical helicopter, to Allegheny General Hospital. There's no word on his condition.

One side of the Turnpike was shut down during the rescue operation.

Traffic was backed up for about two miles. It is now back to normal.
