Man Gets Down On One Knee On The Ocean Floor To Propose
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's no ordinary dive in the deep blue waters of the Bahamas. A diver gets down on his knee to pop the timeless question. Matt Philips and Sarah White have since returned to Pittsburgh to share the moment.
"I went over, deflated my vest a little bit, went down on one knee," Matt begins.
"My first reaction was what are you doing there?" Sarah responds. "I thought we were just going over to take a picture."
The camera, held by a diving instructor, recorded the big event.
"I started off he spiel," Matt continues. "Thankfully, both of us have taken some sign language classes, so were able, without speech, to communicate back and forth pretty well."
"I'm glad we were scuba diving so nobody could see me crying," says the woman who said "Yes!"
As Sarah added salt water tears to the salty waters of the ocean, Matt actually reached for the ring.
"Tied to my ankle with fishing line to make sure it doesn't just float up and away," he explains.
Luckily, the ring survived. Though the proposal was witnessed by fish, it appears their wedding will be for the birds - at the National Aviary.
But nothing can match his almost perfect proposal.
"I said 'You love you' instead of 'I love you,' but close enough. She got the idea."
