Police: Man charged with homicide after Highland Park homicide

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A man was found dead in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood Tuesday morning. 

First responders found the man after they were called to the intersection of Ionic and Millbrae Way for an unresponsive person around 6:45 a.m. 

Police said officers also found a "crime scene" next to the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner identified the victim as 18-year-old Omar McCord Jr. and say he died of suspected gunshot wounds.

Police said on Nov. 9 that 20-year-old Deashawn Watson of Braddock has been charged with criminal homicide, persons not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Watson is currently in the Allegheny County Jail on unrelated charges.
