Man dies after reportedly driving recklessly on Route 50 in Washington County

Deadly Parkway North crash under investigation

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) - A man is dead after he was reported to be driving recklessly and crashed in Washington County on Wednesday evening. 

According to the Washington County Coroner's Office, Washington County 911 was called a little after 5 p.m. by a concerned citizen to report a reckless driver on Avella Road. 

Mount Pleasant Township Police were dispatched to respond to the reported reckless driver and once they located the vehicle in question, it attempted to flee during a traffic stop. 

The driver then struck a guardrail near the intersection of Avella Road and Caldwell Road just before 5:30 p.m. 

Police identified the driver as 45-year-old Mark Miller of Avella, Pennsylvania. 

He was taken to the emergency room at Washington Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m. 

Miller's death is being investigated by the coroner's office and the crash is under investigation by Mt. Pleasant Township Police.
