Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Roommate After Fight

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A man has been charged with criminal homicide and assault in the shooting death of a roommate who had climbed into their western Pennsylvania home through a window after forgetting his key.

Authorities in Cambria County said police were called to the Johnstown home and found 28-year-old Thomas Gibson with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken by ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where he died early Saturday.

Authorities allege in a criminal complaint that Gibson had been out drinking and didn't have his key, so he got in through a window, but an argument ensured with 44-year-old Lonnie Minerd and the two traded punches before Minerd got a gun and fired.

Court documents don't list an attorney; a listed number for Minerd couldn't be found Sunday.
