Richland Twp. Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Girl, 14

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A Richland Township man is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl inside his apartment.

The victim told police she met 23-year-old Jonathan Bruno several months ago while he worked at the 7-Eleven store in Hampton Township.

During her stops at the store, the victim stated she mentioned she went to Hampton Middle School. After a few visits, the victim and Bruno exchanged phone numbers.

"A friendship had started. During their conversations, she had told him she was a middle school student, 14-year-old female. And they would talk on occasion," Northern Regional Police Det. Scott Rick said.

According to the complaint, Bruno went to the victim's home and took her back to his apartment with the victim's mother's permission. Nothing happened at that point.

A few weeks later, Bruno contacted the girl again via Facebook. He said he and his mother would pick up the victim and her mother at the Wendy's in Hampton Township. The victim said Bruno asked her not to tell his mother that she was 14, instead to tell her she was 18 years old.

After meeting at Wendy's, the victim's mother was dropped off at home and then Bruno's mother dropped off him and the victim at his apartment. The victim says Bruno served her some alcohol. She said it was too strong and she quit drinking it. A few minutes later, police say Bruno began to sexually assault her. She told him to stop and Bruno did. Later, he began to kiss and molest her again.

Northern Regional Police became aware of the alleged sexual assault the night it reportedly took place. They say Hampton Township Police were looking for the teenager and brought her in for questioning for a burglary that occurred on May 11.

She has not been charged in that case.

"As Hampton Police were conducting interviews, she had made a statement about something that involved her and Mr. Bruno," Det. Rick said. "We got a warrant on Mr. Bruno and subsequently arrested him in the early morning hours."

Bruno has been charged with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He has posted bond and was released from the Allegheny County Jail on Monday.
