Man Arrested In Homicide Of Missing Man In Hill District

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man has been arrested in the homicide case of a missing man in the Hill District.

In June 2016, 29-year-old Eric Bivins was reported missing. His body was later found near the intersection of Mohawk and Beeland streets in the Hill District.

Investigators determined his death to be a homicide.

On Monday, police tracked Jenkins Everett, 26, to a home in the 200 block of Rochelle Street.

When they arrived, they spotted Everett running from the living room toward the back door of the home. Everett saw police and ran to the second floor, where he jumped out a window and took off.

As police chased him, Everett scaled a fence in a vacant lot. Police attempted to use a Taser on Everett, but said he fell between a fence and a school building nearby.

Everett is being held in the Allegheny County Jail and is facing a list of charges including criminal homicide.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for next week.
