Man Arrested For Robbing Stores Inside Monroeville Mall

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) -- A Plum man is facing multiple robbery charges after police say he tried to target several stores inside the Monroeville Mall.

Monroeville Police say 21-year-old Demetryaiss Holyfield was arrested a short time after the robberies Thursday.

"No weapon was seen, he left a note, and then went to the store next to it. He got approximately $700 dollars, but wasn't able to get any money from a third store," Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said.

Holyfield made his way to the mall parking lot where he attempted to get away, but he didn't get very far.

"Mall security, acting on information they received from the store owners were able to follow him out, and identify the vehicle he was in, that's how Monroeville Police were able to stop him so quickly," Cole said,

No one was hurt in either of the mall robberies, or the nearby traffic stop when Holyfield was taken into custody.

Ross Township Police are expected to charge Holyfield with robbing a uniform store in McIntyre Square on Tuesday.

Police in Apollo and Sharpsburg think Holyfield may have held up Family Dollar Stores in those two communities as well on Tuesday.
