Man Arrested After Stealing Undercover Vehicle From McKeesport Police

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a running undercover police vehicle.

According to police, a Jeep Cherokee used in undercover operations was being warmed up in the parking lot behind the McKeesport Police Department.

They say they were keeping the vehicle running to charge the battery.

Detectives soon noticed that the unattended vehicle was missing. Police suspected a man they had just released from a holding cell for being drunk and disorderly at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.

After reviewing surveillance footage, police issued a "Be on the Lookout" alert.

Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted and officers pulled it over on the Boston Bridge.

A man inside the vehicle, Mario Tiller, was arrested and is facing a list of charges including, theft, receiving stolen goods and driving with a suspended license.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
