Man Accused Of Fatally Beating Father Inside Their Home

AMBLER, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania man has been charged with murder after his father was found fatally beaten inside the family's home this week.

Maximillian Christopher Han, 28, is also charged with theft, possessing an instrument of crime and tampering with/fabricating evidence in the death of Jinhan Han, 58. It wasn't known Thursday if he's retained an attorney.

The elder Han's battered and bleeding body was found around 2 p.m. Monday by his wife in their Ambler home. He was unconscious when police arrived and was pronounced dead at the home a short time later.

Authorities have not said what sparked the attack but noted there were signs of a violent struggle and bloodstains throughout the living room area where the victim was found. Detectives discovered a box-cutter near Han's body, and a butcher knife with a broken blade tip was found in the kitchen.

When detectives interviewed Maximillian Han on Monday, they noticed bruising, swelling, and cuts to his right hand, authorities said. At first, he told detectives he had left the home after becoming angry with his father, but authorities say he later admitted to the beating and selling his father's cellphone for $20 at a nearby mall.

An autopsy determined Jinhan Han died from multiple blunt and sharp injuries. His death has been ruled a homicide.
