Man Accused Of Assaulting Girlfriend's 2-Year-Old

WEST BROWNSVILLE (KDKA) -- A 26-year-old man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend's toddler in Washington County.

Emergency responders were called to Main Street in West Brownsville Borough for an unresponsive child. When police arrived, they found the victim with a serious head injury, as well as bruising to the head and upper torso.

The 2-year-old victim was taken to Children's Hospital with injuries graded as a Level 1 trauma. He was put into a medically-induced coma and given a poor prognosis.

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti Reports:

The child's mother, when interviewed by police, said her boyfriend, Benjamin Glenn Lesczynski, had told her they "needed to get their stories straight," and to tell officers that she was in the living room.

Instead, she relayed that she was upstairs while Lesczynski was downstairs with the kids. Lesczynski came upstairs to tell her that her 2-year-old was unresponsive.

When she found him, he had vomit and blood coming from his nose and mouth.
