Man, 94, Given House Arrest In Second Drunken-Driving Case

EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A judge sentenced a 94-year-old man to house arrest for a month and told him not to drive after a second drunken-driving conviction.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat says Cambria County Judge David Tulowitzki told George Wyar, of Johnstown, "The bottom line is, no one wants you driving anymore."

Wyar was arrested in October when his car failed to move over as he passed officers making another roadside traffic stop. Police say Wyar narrowly missed an officer and had a blood-alcohol content nearly twice the state's legal limit.

Wyar's license is suspended and doesn't expire until next year, but the judge told him Monday not to expect to get it back.

Defense attorney Caram Abood told the judge Wyar was "one of the nicest young men I've ever met."
