Malkin Out Against Detroit, Crosby Could Play

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - A day after absorbing a hit from Boston's Chris Kelly and ultimately being unable to finish the contest – a 2-0 loss – Evgeni Malkin will miss more time.

The Penguins announced Malkin will not play when the puck drops at 12:30 p.m. today at the Consol Energy Center against the Detroit Red Wings.

The club characterized Malkin's injury as a lower-body issue. Coach Mike Johnston does not expect the injury to be a long-term concern.

Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby was a late scratch against Boston with an apparent illness. Crosby will be a game-time decision against Detroit.
