Macadamia Nuts Recalled Over Salmonella Concerns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A recall has been issued for certain kinds of macadamia nuts over concerns about salmonella.

According to the FDA, Snyder-Lance has voluntary recalled two "Diamond of California" products after testing found that a 4-ounce package of chopped macadamia nuts contained salmonella.

The recall covers these two products:

Lot Numbers: 16137D331S, 16138D331S, 16158D331S
Best Before Dates: 16 NOV 2017, 17 NOV 2017, 06 DEC 2017

Product: Diamond of California® Macadamia Halves & Pieces, 2.25oz
UPC Code: 070450743918
Lot Numbers: 16137D331S, 16159D331S
Best Before Dates: 16 NOV 2017, 07 DEC 2017

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. It can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children and the elderly.

But so far, with this recall, no illnesses have been reported.
