ROCHESTER, Pa. (KDKA) -- The Lutheran Service Society is beginning a new program to deliver meals to caregivers in Beaver County.

As of Monday, the society's Meals on Wheels program is now extending its reach to caregivers. The delivery drivers from Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester will drop off food to caregivers in addition to their regular client base.

Michael Dengel, the manager of the Lutheran Service Society's Meals on Wheels program, said, "Our meals are specifically designed for the nutritional value of adults, especially senior citizens. They're low in sodium, low in calories and high in protein."

The meals cost $4.50 each. Recipients can choose between 5, 10 or 14 meals to be delivered to their residence each week. There is no age or income requirement for people who are interested in enrolling.

"We don't want to put a problem on the table. We take it off the table," said Dengel.
