Lines Of Strong Storms Bringing Heavy Rain, Lightning

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some strong storms moved through the area overnight and more are on the way.

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Kristin Emery, a series of three lines of storms will affect the area Wednesday.

The first line of storms moved through overnight, while the second line arrived around 5:30 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service, some parts of Ohio have seen over 3 inches of rain in the past 24 hours.

"Rain should exit our area by mid to late morning, but we could see a few showers or thunderstorms redevelop  mid to late afternoon," Emery said.

Strong downpours and heavy lightning can be expected with these storms.

Two lightning strikes sparked fires around the area overnight.

The first struck a house in Mount Oliver around 3:55 a.m. It appears the strike only created some smoke inside the home, but fire crews quickly got everything under control.

Shortly after, a van in Carrick went up in flames after being struck by lightning.
