Police: Ligonier Police Officer Injured After Intoxicated Man Breaks Into Home

LIGONIER, Pa. (KDKA) – The Ligonier Police Department says an officer was injured when an intoxicated man broke into his house early Saturday morning.

According to police, an off-duty officer allegedly found 36-year-old Brad Steffey, of Laughlintown, Pa., trying to burglarize his home around 3:45 a.m.

The officer tried to subdue Steffey, who was allegedly intoxicated, but Steffey and the officer then got into a physical fight.

Police say the officer was injured during the fight and Steffey fled from the home.

The extent of the officer's injuries is unknown.

Ligonier Police officers later found Steffey a short distance away and apprehended him.

Steffey is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, criminal attempt burglary, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
