Water Main Break Shuts Down One Lane Of Library Road

BETHEL PARK (KDKA) -- A large water main break slowed traffic to a crawl Wednesday morning on a usually busy road in Bethel Park.

Rocks and other debris scattered over Library Road when the water main burst around 4 a.m.

The road buckled and a gaping hole opened in front of a driveway.

Part of the northbound lane of Library Road (Route 88) was closed off to traffic as Pennsylvania American Water crews arrived to fix the 12-inch break.

For sometime, Bethel Park Police directed traffic around the closures and had drivers taking Stoltz Road before other crews came in and closed part of one lane.

Penn American Water says 22 customers are without service due to the break.

They hope to have normal service restored by late afternoon.
