Leetsdale Borough Council Accepts Police Chief's Resignation
LEETSDALE (KDKA) -- The Leetsdale Borough Council in a special session on Monday night unanimously voted to accept the resignation of police chief James Santucci.
Part of the resignation was a "separation agreement" between Council members and Santucci.
Kate Dierson, the Leetsdale solicitor, said, "An investigation was conducted by our office, and we came to an amicable settlement with the chief."
Dierson did not say how much money was part of the agreement.
Council members had no discussion about the vote, and would not talk about Santucci after the meeting.
Last weekend, Leetsdale Mayor Peter Poninsky placed Santucci on administrative leave with pay while the investigation proceeded.
While no one is commenting on the record, sources have told KDKA-TV that Santucci was under investigation for, among other things, alleged ticket fixing, falsifying time sheets, and making threats against a district magistrate.
Paul Kimmel, of Leetsdale, spoke during the brief council meeting, saying, "I think people in Leetsdale should know what happened [to Santucci] and not keep it hush-hush."
Leetsdale Police Sgt. Dan Raible was appointed acting police chief for the time being.
