Leechburg Man Dies After Crashing Into Hydrant

VANDERGRIFT BOROUGH (KDKA) -- A Leechburg man was pronounced dead Saturday after crashing his car into a fire hydrant.

It happened just before midnight in Vandergrift Borough.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, Richard C. Lunden,  31, was driving a Subaru WRX north on Linden Street when he left the road.

The vehicle ran up on the sidewalk and crashed into a fire hydrant.

Lunden was pronounced dead at the scene, but officials do not believe he died due to injuries from the crash.

His cause of death is yet to be determined.
