Leaky Roof Causing Problems At Valley High School

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- Valley High School in New Kensington is suffering from a leaking roof.

Students sent KDKA some pictures after about 100 of them had to be moved to other classrooms.

The rooms were not damaged, but students can't get to them because of leaks in the hallways.

The staff is doing what they can to collect the water in trash cans.

"We don't want to expose any of our staff or our students to any kind of unsafe areas to walk or anything like that," said Dr. John Pallone, the superintendent of the New Kensington-Arnold School District. "It's just a mere cautionary measure."

The 30-year-old roof now needs to be replaced, but it will cost the district more than half a million dollars.
