Boy, 6, Hospitalized After Being Struck By School Bus In Lawrenceville

STRIP DISTRICT (KDKA) – A young boy was taken to the hospital after being struck by a school bus in Lawrenceville Friday morning.
According to officials, the incident happened near the intersection of 39th Street and Penn Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
At first, witnesses thought a little girl had been hit by the bus.
"Next thing I [saw] was a bunch of people standing around and I saw this little girl on the ground," Ron Norfleet said. "She had a backpack on, when they took her to the ambulance, they took the backpack off her."
Ebony Pugh, a spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Public Schools, says the student was actually a little boy, who was with his father.
Pittsburgh Police say the 6-year-old boy darted out into traffic and was hit by the bus. He is a student at Pittsburgh Dilworth PreK-5 school.
The child was stable when he was taken to Children's Hospital.
The school bus is owned by A.J. Myers and Sons bus service.
