'King Of The Cage' Returns To The Meadows Resort

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Anthony "The Joker" McDonald will square off against Nick "Afrozilla" Gaston in the main event of 'King of the Cage,' an MMA event held at The Meadows Casino in Washington, Pa., on Saturday, July 11.

McDonald, hailing from Eugene, Oregon, and Gaston, a product of Columbus, Ohio, are both members of the 265-pound Heavyweight Division. They will take to the cage after the co-main event in the 140-pound Catchweight Division, which will feature Javon Wright from St. Louis and Mark "The Pride of Bloomfield" Cherico from Pittsburgh. Another Pittsburgher, Justin "The Hawk" Steave, will face Brady "The Alpha Male" Hovermale in the 145-pound Featherweight Division, as well.

"Afrozilla is an excellent striker," Terry Trebilcock, President of 'King of the Cage,' told 93.7 The Fan. "He loves to always try to end the fight with knees or elbows from his feet, he's really exciting. McDonald is almost like a basketball player, he's about 6-6, 255 pounds, and he's so athletic and so skilled that he looks like a 180-pounder, but he hits like a 300-pounder. He actually won the amateur world champion tour for us two and a half years ago."

Trebilcock added that both Steave and Hovermale are smaller-framed fighters who retain "one-punch knockout power."

Doors to 'King of the Cage' will open at 6:30 p.m. and the fights begin at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating and Ringside tickets are on sale now at www.meadowsgaming.com and by phone at (724) 503-1200. The event will be broadcast on MAVTV (214 Direvt TV, 248 Dish Network), and fans are encouraged to check their local cable provider for listings.

Trebilcock said he is especially excited to see local talents fight in front of a crowd that he expects will pull for its hometown fighters.

"When hometown guys get in there and fight, they usually get a pretty good crowd in with them, but they also bring the additional pleasure of fighting in front of a hometown crowd, and very rarely will you get a hometown guy who won't leave it all out on the line," Trebilcock said.
