Kevin Colbert: Roethlisberger Has Nothing To Worry About

LATROBE (93-7 The Fan) – Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert joined "The Fan Morning Show" during the guys' broadcast at Steelers Training Camp on Thursday to talk about the team as they prepare for their second preseason game.

Colbert told the guys that despite Jason Worilds having to fight an uphill battle to earn a starting job, he believes that Worilds would be happy to stay in Pittsburgh long-term.

"I really believe he'd like to end his career here if we can all work something out," Colbert said.

Colbert will stay true to his approach towards handling impending free agents, though.

"We do have to get it done before the regular season starts," Colbert said. "That's our philosophy, and we'll follow that for sure."

As for Ben Roethlisberger, Colbert reiterated his belief that there is no reason to doubt the Steelers' commitment to bringing him back.

"Art [Rooney II]'s word is really as good as any contract, if not better," Colbert said. "And Ben understands it, I'm sure. We all get frustrated, or we've got to talk about a contract - everybody wants security, and we can only do so much in a given period. But, to have the owner step up and say, we want Ben to retire [here], and to have everyone else believe that, I think is as good as anything."

Colbert also went into how the hiring of new offensive line coach Mike Munchak went down, explaining that Munchak was hardly a tough sell.

"Once he was available, he actually made inquiries to Coach Tomlin about the availability," Colbert said.
