Kennywood's 10th Annual "Wiener 100" Kicks Off "Celebrate America Days"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The 10th Annual "Wiener 100" dachshund race kicked off Kennywood's first day of "Celebrate America."

26 dachshunds and their owners gathered to participate in the race.

Dr. Mike Hutchinson of Animal General joined KDKA's Dave Crawley to emcee this important event. With wiener dogs, getting from point A to point B, starting line to finish, is often a circuitous path.

The winner of the heavyweight division is a dog with the unwieldy title of Oscar Mayer von Wienerschnitzel the First, and a dog named Astara wins the "Champions Heat" for the third straight year.

Celebrate America days continue through Sunday at Kennywood Park. The days will include patriotic music, special daily entertainment and fireworks nightly, weather permitting.
