K9 Officer Cezar Awarded New Body Armor

ROSS TWP. (KDKA) - A brave police K-9 is now fighting crime with extra protection.

Ross Township Police Department's Cezar has been fitted with a bullet and stab-proof vest.

The new armor is made possible thanks to a donations and fundraisers through a non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Various fundraisers were held including one at PURE Athletex which helped raise more than half of the cost of the vest, it was sponsored by First National Bank.

Proceeds for the vest were also gathered from an online fundraising event organized by Shane Culgan of Pittsburgh.

The stylish and safe vest is embroidered with "protection provided by Ross Twp. Community and Friends."

In late January of this year, K9 Officer Aren was stabbed and killed in Wilkinsburg.

Cezar's new armor should help keep him safe while he fights crime.
