K-9s Assist Police In Catching 4 Suspects After Robbery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Four people are in custody after a brazen hold up at a local convenience store.

Police say two K-9 units were involved in the swift arrests.

The armed robbery happened at the BP station on Brownsville Road in Carrick.

The clerk, Ashoka Bhattarai, told Kym Gable two people came inside the store with masks and guns, while two others waited outside.

He says one of the actors pointed a gun at his head.

"I said don't do anything to me," Bhattarai said. "I will open the register."

Bhattarai says one of the actors then jumped on the counter and grabbed the entire cash register.

Police looked at surveillance footage and one of the Zone 3 officers spotted one of the suspects.

The K-9s tracked the other three to a location near the store.

KDKA has learned that two of the suspects -- one adult and one juvenile -- were bitten by one of those police dogs.

The juvenile is in the hospital being treated.

The adult suspect who was bitten was treated at the hospital before being taken in for questioning.

Two other juveniles were taken in for questioning as well.

No word yet on what charges they will face.
