Jury To Be Brought In From Dauphin Co. To Hear Cyanide Poisoning Case
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The jury hearing the case against Dr. Robert Ferrante, the Pitt medical researcher accused in the cyanide poisoning death of his wife, will be chose from Dauphin County.
That comes from the ruling by Pennsylvania Supreme County Justice Ronald Castille.
Ferrante is accused of giving his wife, Dr. Autumn Klein, cyanide last April. She died three days later.
His defense team requested an out-of-county jury hear the case; and earlier this month, the request was granted.
Publicity surrounding the case included search warrants for the defendant's computer records, researching medical procedures and traces of toxins in the body.
That kind of publicity caused to judge to test local jury pools.
According to the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office, jury selection will begin on Aug. 25.
The trial is then set to begin on Sept. 22.
